On Sunday, March 3rd, 2019, BHA- Egypt participated for the third year in a row in the World Wildlife Day Egypt’s 2019 celebration with the Egyptian NGOs & Governmental organizations at Giza Zoo “Zoological Museum” from 10.00am to 04.00 pm.
This year’s theme for World Wildlife Day was 'Life below water: for people and planet', this is the first time to address goal 14 - Life below water - of the Sustainable Development Goals. The aim was to raise public awareness about the breath-taking diversity of marine life, the crucial importance of marine species to human development, and how we can make sure it will continue to provide these services for future generations in a Sustainable manner.
- BHA-Egypt’s Highlights:
- It was a great pleasure that Dr. Emad Naoum received a certificate of Appreciation handed by Dr. Mona Mehrez for his outstanding contribution to the World Wild Day Egypt’s.
- BHA-Egypt’s booth was honored by the visit of a very reputable of public figures such as Prof. Dr. Mona Mehrez (Vice-minister of agriculture) who was fascinated by Brooke activities around Egypt as she said that she had visited Brooke Luxor before, Mrs. Radhia Achouri (UN information Director), Dr. Amir Khalil (Four Paws Association) and Prof. Dr. Gamal Medany (Arab Federation for Wildlife protection) who discussed the importance role of Brooke Egypt in the Egyptian society and the importance of community awareness.
- During Dr. Moha Mehrez’s speech, she has mentioned Brooke Egypt many times during her speech and expressed her gratitude for our participation.
- The Activities:
- Dr. Mohammed Ragaei welcomed the guests and gave the words respectively to them as Dr. Mona Mehrez has started her speech followed distributing Shields of Honor and Certificates of Appreciation.
- Dr. Radiha Achouri (UN information director – Egypt) also gave her speech which included a message of UN Director Antonio Guterres Secretary-General of the United Nations on World Wildlife Day)
- Presentations of different topics were given by the participant associations who are involved and interested in wildlife and animal welfare, where the words stressed on the importance of awareness of all environmental issues, sustainable development and the creativity to find solutions for the different types of the problems.
- The participant organizations distributed pamphlets, brochures, booklet and giveaways among the attendees about their various objectives and activities in order to highlight the various environmental issues. As they were aiming to raise the level of awareness among all groups of society to preserve wildlife in general, especially endangered species of animals and marine mammals.
- BHA-Egypt team presented Brooke Egypt services, its impact in the Egyptian society and raise the awareness of the animal welfare of the visitors and the attendees.
- As the children were a huge part of this event, BHA-Egypt team organized drawing and coloring competitions in order to raise their awareness about the animal welfare and giving prizes for who attended those competitions.
- Many photos were taken with different visitors to the celebration who were keen to learn more about Brooke's various activities and its impact on the Egyptian society.
