Co-operation among BHA-Egypt, the Egyptian Food Bank, Beit Al-Khair association and Qalyubia Veterinary Administration

On Wednesday, 10th of October 2018, BHA-Egypt succeeded in collaboration with the Egyptian Food Bank, Beit Al-Khair association and Qalyubia Veterinary Administration to organize a joint field visit to El Hasafah village - Shibin El Qanater which is far about 45 km from Brooke Cairo clinic through its mobile clinic team.

 

BHA Egypt provided free veterinary service for working equines and improved the awareness of animal owners and users about best equine welfare practices. While the veterinary administration provided the free veterinary service for other production animals and the Egyptian Food Bank and Beit Al-Khair association were the coordinator parts of this collaboration.

 

During this visit, BHA Egypt held various activities such as providing quality veterinary services to the working equine animals and awareness-raising sessions for the owners/users about best animal welfare practices; including: Dental Care, the implications of using metal nose chains on equine animal health and the problem of animals’ hooves that require regular care and cleaning to stay healthy…etc,.

The total number of animals treated was 101 equines with 177 total treatments for various diseases, and increase the awareness of 200 owners and users. In addition, BHA Egypt distributed 42 Nosebands, 28 head collar and repaired 8 head collars, and 5 wooden saddles and harness.
