Message to our supporters. Brooke-Luxor will temporarily work exclusively with mobile clinics.

From 1966 until 2006, Brooke-Luxor was located on El Montazeh Street, in Luxor’s city center. In 2006 Brooke-Luxor had to leave their beloved clinic, because of excavations. In 2006 they moved to a temporary location. When the rent of this location continued to increase during the past years and for other reasons the Brooke-Luxor team actively went looking for another location. This location has been found last year, but it will take some time to acquire the necessary contracts.

This week it has been announced to the Brooke-Luxor team that the land-owner of the current location has found a new tenant who is willing to pay significantly more rent than Brooke. Brooke has been asked to leave instantly. Negotiations to allow Brooke to have a few months to make arrangements haven’t been fruitful.
The announcement came as a shock, but the Luxor team is quick, creative and determined: the help to the animals must continue!

The Brooke-Luxor team is taking the following actions:

  • The team has returned the in-patients to their owners, with strict instructions for care and with appointments for follow-up treatment.
  • The team has rented garage boxes from where the mobile clinics will leave each day, to their locations in and around Luxor.
  • The team has gotten permission to have a mobile clinic parked next to Luxor-tempel, for the treatment of outpatients.
  • The team, which will temporarily not be able to accommodate in-patients, will treat the animals as outpatients and, when needed, at the homes of the owners.
  • The team will inform the animal owners of Luxor about this temporary situation.

We wish the team of Brooke-Luxor the best of luck in this challenging time.
We hope British and Dutch tourists to Luxor will look for the Brooke-team and encourage them to continue their fantastic work. The team will be easy to find.
