Veterinary Outreach Campaign in Elkobania and Elselsela Villages – Aswan

In memory of the Brooke founder Mrs. Dorothy Brooke, and as part of participation in the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, and to strengthen cooperation with local veterinary authorities (Animal Reproduction Research Institute, Aswan Veterinary Syndicate, and the Veterinary Directorate), two veterinary campaigns were carried out in Elkobania village (about 20 km from Aswan) and Elselsela village (70 km from the city and already served by Mobile Clinic 44).

These villages were selected as part of the “Decent Life” initiative to improve public services and support animal welfare.

The campaigns were conducted on June 7th and 8th, 2022, by Mobile Clinics 43 and 44, led by Dr. Alaa Soliman and Dr. Israa, with the participation of Mohamed Mahdy and Nedal Galal.

A total of 78 working animals (3 horses and 75 donkeys) were treated. Cases included surgical removal of a sarcoid tumor, hoof care cases, and other conditions such as heat stress and multiple wounds. An interesting case of habronemiasis was also recorded and used as a training opportunity, and 7 veterinarians were trained.

Awareness sessions were also held about animal welfare and how to protect animals from heat stress. A total of 24 people attended (17 children and 7 men).
