Originally built in the middle of Luxor city. In November 2005, the Luxor clinic was forced to move from its original site near the Temple of Luxor by the city council, which needed the site for archaeological excavations.
As a result the center was moved to a new base in Naga el Khataba, much closer to the places where the working animals live. The Brookes’ work in Luxor is a real success story; we have been able to improve the condition and welfare of carriage horses to such a degree that we can now spend time visiting new areas, where the owners and horses desperately need our help.
As well as being closer to the areas where animals live and work, Brooke Luxor’s 1st aid center moved to a new location in May 2008.
The new, larger center features an outpatient clinic, a treatment and examination area and facilities to house nine animals needing care.
There is also a shower and a shade shelter to help to cool down the animals suffering from heat stress, and a rolling area in which they can enjoy a much-needed break.
As of November 1st, 2024, Brooke Luxor’s office has relocated to a new address: El-Negom Street (Television Street), El-Biadea – Luxor.
