Tetanus Symposium – Damietta 2021

One of the Brooke – Egypt main objectives is to exchange experience with the governmental and local vets in the community. The Brooke Mansoura office arranged an educational session inside Damietta Veterinary Administration at 21st March 2021.

The session was covering tetanus as a disease widespread in the working equine animals and most of the vets need to refresh their knowledge about it. Dr Mohamed Abdelati (Mansoura Office Manager) discussed the disease to 25 governmental vets in the presence of Dr Ihab Shukri (Head of Damietta Veterinary Directorate).

The session covers some general information about the micro-organism causing the disease and how the animal get the infection, the pathogenesis of the disease and clinical signs, how to diagnose the disease and what is the ideal treatment according to animal welfare. And finally, what is the message should we teach the animal owner to correct the management of his animal. After the session, there was an open discussion about tetanus and some questions regarding other equine animal affections.
